For some, a plateau passes in half a month; for others, it can last for six months—this is all normal.

There are no shortcuts to overcoming a plateau; only persistence will do.

Specifically, this involves both methods and mindset.

In terms of methods, the secret is to remain steadfast and stick to your original weight loss method.

If your original method has been effective, there's no reason to change it when you reach a plateau. At this time, don't rush things, blindly increasing exercise or drastically reducing your diet. Doing so will disrupt the body's balance and easily lead to health problems such as constipation, weakness, and blood and qi imbalances.

When I say "staying put," I don't mean you can't make any changes at all. For example, if you mainly burn calories by jogging, you can switch to cycling or aerobics, as long as you calculate the approximate calorie expenditure. This kind of change can be incorporated throughout the entire fat loss process; switching between methods during a plateau is even more beneficial, as it stimulates the body and helps break through the plateau. Studies have shown that using multiple methods to lose fat during a plateau takes less time than using a single method.

It's crucial to maintain a calm mindset. Understand that a plateau is not a limit. While plateaus may be long, once you break through them, your body fat percentage and weight can continue to decrease. Think of it this way: everything in the world, from the economy and culture to personal career development, progresses rapidly at first, then slows down, and finally continues to progress. This is the natural progression of everything. Fat loss is no exception; after the initial rapid phase, it naturally enters a slower phase. The plateau is such a phase.

A plateau is actually a signal that your previous weight loss methods are correct and the results are good. The existence of a plateau is to tell you that you should keep pushing, adjust your mindset, and not give up!
