Dietary therapy for stubborn obesity and obesity caused by allergies: a new scientific weight loss strategy
Dietary Treatment for Patients with Refractory Obesity: Refractory obesity refers to obesity where weight loss is not significant despite dietary and medication treatments. Some consider obesity exceeding 127 kg to be refractory obesity. Many factors contribute to refractory obesity, such as: ① emotional stress and unpleasant lifestyle; ② certain human factors that promote overeating; ③ certain serious endocrine disorders, such as Cushing's syndrome and pituitary tumors; ④ obesity combined with other serious diseases.
For patients with refractory obesity, hospitalization is necessary after outpatient treatment fails, with strict dietary control and appropriate medication.
Routine treatment measures for hospitalized patients with refractory obesity include: ① short-term fasting (7-10 days). ② a very low-calorie diet (180-360 kcal, 750-1500 kJ). ③ diet plus exercise therapy: a daily total calorie intake of 400 kcal (1670 kJ) for one month.
If intractable obesity is caused by endocrine disorders, treatment must focus on the underlying disease. If it is caused by neurosis due to psychological factors, hypnotherapy can be used. For some patients with very difficult-to-treat intractable obesity, surgical treatment may be considered.
Dietary therapy for obese patients with allergic constitutions: Some obese patients have allergies and are prone to allergies to certain foods such as fish, shrimp, and seafood. For obese patients with allergic constitutions, some recommend the following anti-allergy weight loss diet. The anti-allergy weight loss diet consists of two categories of diets, A and B. Generally, diet A is followed for 3 days, followed by diet B for 3 days.
1. Diet A: Breakfast: 1 medium-sized apple, coffee or tea (without cream or milk, but with sugar substitute). Lunch: Salad with 1 tomato, 1/4 head of lettuce, 5 asparagus tips, lightly seasoned vinegar, lemon or curry, 2 small slices of cold lamb or beef, 1 medium pear, coffee or tea (without cream or milk, but with sugar substitute).
Dinner: 1 cup of clear soup, 1 piece of lean lamb, beef or chicken (approximately 4cm³), half a small plate of spinach, half a bowl of carrots, 1 medium pear, coffee or tea (without cream or milk, but with sugar substitute).
2. Recipe B
Breakfast: 1 medium apple, 1 rye cracker, 3 slices of lean bacon, coffee or tea (without cream or milk, but with sugar substitute).
Lunch: Same as Recipe A, except add 1 rye cracker.
Dinner: Same as Recipe A, except add 1 medium potato, and replace the pear with a cup of unsweetened pineapple juice.
Both diets require daily supplementation with vitamins and minerals, such as calcium tablets, and plenty of water. Sugar-free carbonated drinks or soda water are also acceptable. Continue for 4-6 weeks until you reach your target weight, then discontinue. Use other methods to control your diet and maintain your weight. If you experience weight regain and need to lose weight again, you can return to this diet or another weight-loss diet.
